Cardiology

Cardiology is the department of medicine that treats and take care of the disorder and disease pertinent to heart as well as the circulatory system. It exhaustively comprises the medical diagnosis and the treatment of valvular heart disease, heart failure, coronary artery disease, congenital heart defects and electrophysiology.
When it comes about cardiology and cardiovascular treatment and care, we often look for the most advance and effective treatment available in India. The treatment may range from avert heart disease development by altering life style and medical therapy, peripheral and valvulary interventions, arrhythmia ablation, catheter based coronary, heart transplantation, implantable devices, and open heart surgery.
Non-invasive cardiology and diagnostic
The procedure includes the unearthing and treatment heart disease in which test and evaluation and after that diagnosis of disorders of heart involve. Patient with the history of heart diseases such as chest pain with causes that are not known or valvular heart comes for non-invasive evaluation which can be done with the help of ECG, Peripheral Doppler, 2D color Doppler, Stress test or Holter and Stress Echo.
Angiography
It is a diagnostic test which performed under the fluoroscopy to identify the blockage in the heart in the coronary or peripheral arteries. It involves the x-ray imaging to examine the blood vessels. A needle is placed into the femoral artery in order to address all the area the body. After that catheters and wires are inserted inside the arterial system to locate the area of interest. During the imaging, an iodine-based contrast medium is injected into the system which radiates the blood moving the vessels. The procedure may take from 20 minutes to hours depending on the complexity of the test.
Heart Transplant
A heart transplant is required when there is an urgent need to replace a damaged or end stage heart with a healthy heart from a donor who has died recently. The heart of such donor is removed and it is surgically implanted into the patient. It strictly requires number of blood and tissue matching in order to ensure least rejections. There is no fix time estimation of the heart transplant surgery. It may take few or many hours to successfully perform a complete transplant. India is emerging as an effective destination for heart transplant due to its low cost and increased number of cadaver donor in past few years.
Pacemaker Implantation
A pacemaker is a small electronic device which is surgically inserted in the chest of the patient who is suffering from the Arrhythmias such as slow heart rate and high heart rate. The implantation of pacemaker is performed to make sure that the heartbeat does not decline to a threatening level. The pacemaker consists of three parts; a pulse generator, leads and an electrode on each lead. It functionary work is to signals the heart to beat when the beat is asymmetrical or too slow. The implantation procedure may take 1-3 hours depending on the device and require 2-4 days stay in hospital.
Heart valve disease and surgery
When the heart valves which is responsible to regulate the appropriate blood flow through the chambers of the heart, could not word properly, you may be diagnosed with heart valve disease. The reason can shoot up by birth, due to normal aging process, harm from bacterial infection or by one or more heart attacks.
When heart valve disease occurs, the valve may not open properly or may have problem in closing, due to which blood does not move through the heart chambers efficiently or the way it should be. with the help of the surgery the one or more heart valves are either repaired or if needed replaced to help it function effectively. The surgery may take 3-4 hours and require one week stay in the hospital.
